When recieving art, we ask you submit "vector graphics" or camera-ready art. These files are fully editable and easily manipulated for almost any application.
"Bad art" is frequently sent to us. Graphics copied from the web are unnacceptable for printing or ASI use, even though they may look great on the screen their resolution is only 72DPI. Be sure if you scan an image it is at least 300DPI at the size it is to be printed. If your image is small and you need help, please feel free to email or call with questions.

We will accept the following file types:
Vector: .AI up to version CS4, .EPS, .PDF, or .CDR. Any raster images within these files must be 300DPI at size.
Raster: .PSD up to version CS4, .TIF, .EPS, .PDF, or .JPG. These files must be of high resolution - 300DPI or above at the size that is is to be printed.
Files such as .PNG, .GIF, .BMP, and other low resolution files are not optimized for most print applications and may require additional hourly rates to bring your files up to our strict printing standards.
We absolutely do not accept any print files submitted with Publisher or PowerPoint.

When submitting artwork, please provide everything necessary to output your file. This includes all your fonts in outlines or font files used in your document, all images embedded or links sent in a separate ZIP file, and any PMS colors used.
We strongly suggest submitting all artwork in vector format via AI or EPS file to alleviate any problems that may arise with resolution or color separation.
All files should be sent to your sales representative or directly to the artroom. If you have large files our FTP is available by request.

There are many different types of graphic files, but they all fall into one of two categories: raster or vector. The difference between the two? Read below!

Raster files are image files that are composed of pixels. Each pixel contains a color or shade that becomes part of an image - like a photo or a graphic on the web. When raster image files are enlarged, the pixels follow suit and also are enlarged, causing distortion in the image or pixelation, degrading the overall quality or resolution. This is why most raster files are unacceptable for printing applications.

Resolution is the "pixelization" or "quality" of your image, and is defined by the DPI or PPI (dots/pixels per square inch) of your image.
The standard setting for a monitor is only 72 DPI, so images created to be viewed through a monitor are 72 DPI - not suitable for print. Images created for print are set at 300 DPI or higher at their exact print size, depending on the print application. The higher the resolution the better your print will look. Raster images are sized on their resolution, vector images contain no resolution.

Vector files use mathematical relationships between points and the paths connecting them to describe an image. Thse paths contain information that enables them to never lose resolution, always maintaining a flawless image regardless of size or manipulation. | |
